My Review Policy

Thank you for considering Melissa's Bookshelf for a review of your book!

I review many kinds of books and give my honest opinions and feedback on this blog. So, if I read a book with which I had legitimate issues, I will write about it, but I will make it a point to note the positives where I can, as well. I reserve the right to go back and edit any of my previous reviews and ratings as I believe it's necessary.

I would be happy to accept review and advance copies of books. I can't promise to read everything received--I'll do my very best!!--but I will write an honest review of every book that I do complete. I will attempt to pass along any books I am unable to complete to a fellow book blogger who would be likely to enjoy the book.

Right now, while I am greatly limiting the review books I accept, my plan is to review any books I receive within 2 - 4 months (60 - 120 days), or as close to the pub date as possible for books currently awaiting publication. If that changes I will adjust the time range accordingly. Reviews will be posted on my blog, and on occasion I do post reviews on sites like Amazon.com and BN.com. If you have a specific site on which you would like me to post a review, I am happy to do so. Publishers and authors, I will also email you with a link when I post a review of a book you sent to me.

My preferred genres include (but are not limited to) sci-fi/fantasy, mystery, suspense/thriller, young adult, historical fiction, general fiction, Christian fiction, biography, and business/marketing. I will consider self-published books, dependent upon the subject matter. At this time, I do not accept e-books.

I also enjoy participating in contests and giveaways, and would be happy to host author interviews and guest posts. On that note, I am also more than willing to participate in blog tours for books--provided they fall into my reading preferences--whether with a review, guest post or author interview.
